A visa invitation — also called a letter of invitation (LOI) or visa support document — identifies the Russian host and the trip details used for a regular visa application. The required document depends on the visa category: for a tourist visa it is normally a tourist confirmation and voucher issued by an eligible Russian tour operator or, where local rules allow, qualifying hotel documentation.
For a tourist visa, the invitation is a single A4 page issued by a tour operator registered with the Russian authorities. It consists of two parts:
1. Foreign Tourist Reception Confirmation
Confirms that the accredited tour operator will host you in Russia. It shows your personal details, visa type, entry and exit dates, purpose of travel and the operator's official reference number.
2. Tourist Voucher
A short contract for tourist services: your itinerary, the cities you plan to visit, accommodation details and a note that all services are fully paid.
